Abstract: The research project titled "Leadership Skills for the Improvement of the Substantive University Action of the UNED: A Route of Action for the Strengthening of the Capacities of Academic Staff, Administrative Staff, and Leadership" aims to address the importance of leadership in university management so as to provide inputs to guide the University towards achieving its mission, vision, objectives, and values in an ever-changing environment. The research proposal emphasizes the relevance of leadership skills in fostering collaborative work environments, stimulating innovation and creativity, and building significant bridges between the university and the community. It highlights that these skills are fundamental not only for the internal functioning of universities but also for their impact on society. This project aims to identify the present and required leadership skills of the academic, administrative, and leadership staff of the UNED, with the purpose of strengthening these capacities to improve teaching, extension, and research, thereby contributing to the enhancement of university management. The general purpose is to analyze these skills for the improvement of the substantive action of the university. The proposed methodology will be based on a mixed approach, using both quantitative and qualitative techniques, to gain a complete understanding of the studied phenomenon. A concurrent triangulation design will be used, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data simultaneously. The study population will include all UNED staff, using convenience sampling techniques to select participants. The research will be conducted from April 2024 to July 2025, aiming to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the leadership skills necessary to face the challenges and demands of contemporary society in the university context. |
