Abstract: Rapid advancements in information and communication technologies, along with their increased use for educational purposes, have led to an exponential growth in the availability of audiovisual materials on the internet. This trend was further accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which platforms such as YouTube enabled widespread access to a vast array of resources, although there is no guaranted pedagogical or technical quality.
In this context, the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) requires audiovisual materials that are aligned with specific needs of the Academic Units and provides essential support for student learning. For this is so important to document evidence about technical quality of these productions, their relevance to the curricular content, and their overall impact on distance education.
So far, the Programa de Producción de Materiales Audiovisuales (PPMA) has implemented several isolated initiatives to evaluate the produced materials. However, these evaluations have not been systematized or formally integrated into the production process.
This study examines the previous initiatives undertaken by the PPMA, documents it´s previous experiences, and analyzes the implementation of the evaluation outcomes. Additionally, an exhaustive review of international research has done to identify the criteria and methodologies employed in evaluating educational audiovisual materials.
Finally, the most significant findings were synthesized and discussed, highlighting potential strategies to enhance the production and evaluation processes within UNED's pedagogical framework. These contributions are expected to guide future improvements in the design and implementation of audiovisual educational materials, ultimately fostering a more effective and quality-driven learning environment at UNED. |
