Abstract: In the information age, it is increasingly common to find that people have a distorted view of the world. This is justified in two ways, on the one hand by cognitive biases and on the other by the way in which the different digital media display information about the world. This brings with it the need to evaluate the degree of distortion in order to analyse whether or not it is necessary to propose corrective actions in the future.
For this purpose, the Factfulness test developed by Rosling et al. (2018) will be carried out on a significant sample of students from different types of degrees at the main Costa Rican universities, thus evaluating the degree of distortion they have about the current world.
The aim is to increase the scientific culture of Costa Rican society and to bring scientific knowledge and the results derived from official data extracted from rigorous research closer, thus improving the education of future generations and shortening the distance between the real world and the one proposed by the different media |
