Abstract: After three years of continuing offer of the Plan for Training in Research Skills (PFCI) by the Center of Professional Development on Distance Education (CECED), this Center, together with the Research Department of the Costa Rica’s State University of Distance Education, UNED, determines the need for an assessment of the effect of the PFCI in its target population (academics working on research). In the year 2018, a series of studies was started to generate evidence of the impact of the courses on the research indicators of UNED.
Up to now, a trustful monitoring process for the assessment of the impact of these courses has not been designed at a personal or institutional level.
It is pertinent to analyze the impact of the courses of the PFCI of CECED and the Research Department of UNED, Costa Rica, on the general research indicators of the university.
The present study aims at examining the impact of the course of the PFCI offered by CECED in the year 2016 and 2017 on the research ideas or projects stated by participants at the moment of registering those courses. This work is divided in stages and interrelated products are obtained that function, at the same time, as programmed tasks in a specific time lapse in order to reach the objective.
